San Diego

Can I just say that I love San Diego! There is something in the air that makes me feel alive! And that is how I have felt all weekend because I have been to San Diego!

I left Thursday and flew into the San Diego Airport. Robyn met me there. Yes, Robyn! When she heard I was going to San Diego and staying in Coronado she wanted to drive down and meet me. Just as we were driving out of the airport, Karen called, yes Karen! Karen had a convention in San Diego the same weekend. It was unbelievable. When I knew Robyn was coming I told Karen, just in case she wanted to join us. Never expecting her to come, I was so happily surprised to learn of her conference.

I kept seeing sunflowers everywhere I went in San Diego. I knew San Diego was my kind of place!

So we went and picked Karen up and went off to have some good old fashion fun! We headed to Seaport Village for a little shopping. We had such a great time visiting and just enjoying being together.

We had some lunch at a little place in Seaport Village.

We ordered some fried pickles. They were surprisingly delicious.

At the bookstore at Seaport Village, Robyn thought she was so funny by picking up this book and thumbing through it.

We took a stroll on a nature walk in Balboa Park. We were having such a fun time as we got off the trail and had to trample through the weeds and dirt.

The flowers were beautiful along our nature walk.

We also spent the evening in Old Town.

We went to dinner at Fred's Mexican restaurant and did some great shopping. We have so much fun together and I kept thinking how much fun it was to be with them.

We returned Karen to her hotel in San Diego and off we went to our $36 hotel. We couldn't believe we got such a good deal. It was a Comfort Suites along hotel circle. It was not bad at all.

When Robyn and I woke up Friday we needed to kill some time before we met Denise at the hotel. As we were driving around we happened upon a WHOLE FOODS. My friend and co worker, Becky, loves this place and plans trips around this place. So we had to go in. It really was an amazing store. We sampled some of the deli foods. WOW, such tasty, healthy food. Loved it!

Then we took a jont up the road to the San Diego Temple. What a breath taking sight.
Peaceful, lovely, beautiful.

Off to the hotel Coronado on Coronado Island. Denise would be arriving soon. I couldn't wait to go there. I have wanted to stay there for so long and never thought I would. It was truly a dream come true. Isn't it lovely?

We went to lunch at the hotel restaurant. It was so different and expensive. My meal came to $75.08. Yikes! The cake, was amazing. Three of us shared it and we couldn't eat it all.

Our room was so wonderful. We stayed in the California Cabana Suite right on the beach on one side and the pool on the other. We found out that it was $550 a night.

So, we all decided that we wanted to get a pedicure. You know, we are in San Diego, it seemed like the thing to do. We had this tourist book with 500 coupons in it. We are Case girls, the coupons and all. We called one of the places and they had 3 openings at 6:00 pm for a $23 pedicure. We were so excited. When we got there we decided to go crazy and get the deuxe pedicure for $32. I just noticed I am so concerned with money.

Denise had a pedicure and her nails done. Bee u teeee ful!

Just a pedi for me! It was delightful. Karen, that is who gave me my pedicure, started at 6:30 and we didn't finish until 8:00. They gave us the works!

And Robyn with her pedicure. We had so much fun!

Almost done. Those are Robyn's toes that still have a little work to be done.

Here's the team that worked on our feet. The salon was called Nancy's Nails. They were all from Vietnam. Lovely people. Karen is the gal in white. She is so cute. She came here with her father from Vietnam. Her mother had already been here for 10 years. Now her whole family is here. She is going to college in business, is 22 years old. Inspiring! This truly is the land of opportunity.

While we were out taking care of our beauty, Denise decided she wanted a haircut. So daring to walk into a salon and get a cut. But she did. And the one she picked turned out to be great. It was an oriental salon. We were the only white folk in the place. But they did a great job with Denise's hair.

After dinner in Old Town, some more shopping we went back to the hotel and browsed around. This is the elevator, still working after all these years with a elevator man to boot. He took us up to the top floor and gave us a tour.

At the hotel.
Denise loved these chairs.

Sunday morning, Robyn and I work up and walked the beach, found sea shells and enjoyed the fresh air .
Our hotel from the beach.

Another hotel shot from the beach.

Another hotel view. It was magnificent.

Wow! What a great trip. Definitely my favorite hotel ever! I loved being with my sisters. And I loved being on a trip with Denise. Good times for sure.
