Christmas 2009

Christmas is a magical time of year. It is so full of tradition and memories and feelings that do not come all year long. I love it. This year was no different. Well, it is different now that I am divorced but it is still all spending time with family and singing and parties and the blessings of having the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Christmas morning was traditional. We woke up early and had a gift opening. Later, the kids went with Rick to SLC to be with the Scotts. The Cases's are not much at getting together on Christmas day. I stayed home with a good book and movie and enjoyed a peaceful Christmas day.

My favorite things

This Christmas season I am going to post "a few of my favorite things". Starting off, setting up Christmas decorations with Christmas music playing in the background. Peaceful.

"A few of my favorite things" 2: A trip with my children to the Festival of trees and dinner at Crown Burger.

"A few of my favorite things" 3: Spending a cozy Sunday evening under the lights of our Christmas tree watching my favorite Christmas movie, "The Christmas Card."

"A few of my favorite things" 4: We go to a lot of movies at Christmas time. My favorite this season is"Blind Side." Wonderful movie.

"A few of my favorite things" 5: A White Christmas.

"A few of my favorite things"6: Making Christmas candy...Fudge, Peppermint Bark, and Caramel.

"A few of my favorite things" 7: A steamy cup of hot chocolate at the end of the day. I still use Mrs Arbogast's recipe from 8th Grade Homemaking, Northwest Jr High School.

"A few of my favorite things" 8: Singing Christmas songs. I get to go to rehearsal tonight for our upcoming Christmas programs. I LOVE IT!

"A few of my favorite things" 9: Buying SURPRISE gifts for my children. I am excited Richie, Jen, Heidi and Ian.

"A few of my favorite things" 10: My favorite bakery with the most amazing Christmas sugar cookies is "Flour Girls and Dough Boys" in American Fork.

"A few of my favorite things" 11: Handel's Messiah.

"A few of my favorite things" 12: Today, Dec 12, I honor my parents whose wedding anniversary this is. They are definitely a few of my favorites.

"A few of my favorite things" 13: My children: Richie, Jen, Heidi, Ian. You bring great joy to my life.

.

"A few of my favorite things" 14: The Elf. For 22 years the elf has delivered the 12 days of Christmas to our door. It is so much fun. Thank you elf, whoever you are.

"A few of my favorite things" 15: Selfless people. I worked with a patient yesterday who was this way and it renews my hope in the world. It makes me happy.

"A few of my favorite things" 16: Christmas concerts. Heidi and I have our big concert tonight. SO EXCITING!

"A few of my favorite things" 17: Taking the day off work to go Christmas shopping.

"A few of my favorite things" 18: A Friday evening with nothing to do but wrap gifts and watch Christmas movies with my children.

"A few of my favorite things" 19: Temple Square. I love that place at Christmas time. I will be singing with Mapleton Chorale at Temple Square this evening at 6:30. All are welcome to come.

"A few of my favorite things" 20: Christmas Sunday. I love the Sunday before Christmas...my wonderful ward family, my ward choir program, focusing on the true meaning of Christmas, a ham dinner, and an evening with friends and/or family. It will be a great day. Have a great one yourself.

"A few of my favorite things" 21: Having friends come in town for the holidays and going out to dinner with them. Thanks Natalie. I had a great time tonight.

"A few of my favorite things" 22: My siblings and their families. I love to spend this time of year with you. Wish we would do it more. I love you Jeff, Karen, Bryan, Jon, Robyn, Noel and your families.

"A few of my favorite things" 23: My new co workers. We took some pictures this year of us out hiking together and put a little catchy quote with it on a Christmas card and gave them out to co workers, patients, etc. We plan to do it each year. It will be great fun. I love working with you.

"A few of my favorite things" 24: The Scott Christmas Eve party. This has been a fun tradition ever since I have been in the Scott family....turkey dinner, presents, Santa, talent show, Schmidt sugar cookies and reading from Luke. Even though life has changed for me, this will forever be a wonderful tradition for my children.

"A few of my favorite things" 25: Christmas Day. It is truly a magical day. Getting up early, opening gifts under Christmas tree lights, Christmas Morning Casserole and freshed squeezed orange juice. It is a peaceful, joyful day.

Jen's new car

Jen just bought a new car. She had been going 3 years to BYU and footing it the whole time. She even rode her bike to her job a few summers ago. She deserves this so much and I am happy she finally has her own car. She bought a gold 2006 Hyundai Accent.
