Flowers from Vicki
One evening I went to Mapleton Chorale feeling a little down. I won't go into the details. It is nothing that I can't and won't deal with, but when I walked into choir I was red eyed and sad. Vicki, my dear friend, gave me her listening ear and
then off to singing we went.
The next day I had flowers delivered to me from her!
They brightened my day and reminded me that the world is filled with goodness and love and good, caring people. I felt so blessed.
Vicki, you are dear to me and that was the sweetest thing ever!
Can it be true that Jen is 22?
What did she get for her birthday?
She is such a Harry Potter fan and the new #7 movie is coming out in November and based on this, I think, she wanted a bunch of Harry Potter things. She got the set of HP books in paperback for her classroom, the set of HP movies and a HP watch. She also got a camelbak waterbottle, some school supplies and money.
Jen went to dinner with the Scott's to the Cheesecake Factory.
We started a new tradition here at home of cooking any meal she wanted and having her cake. She decided on Carne Asada tacos. It was so delicious. For her cake she chose cupcakes from Sweettooth Fairy. It was so much fun to sample all the delicious cupcakes!
Happy Birthday Jen. You are incredibly amazing. I love you!
Heidi's State Choir
Heidi has been practicing so hard for her state choir program, Saturday evening, the 9th of October at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. There was a choir of 700 kids. Kids from high schools all over Utah joined together for this occasion.
It was amazing. These kids sang so beautifully. I was in awe at what they had done in such a short period of time. What an experience for these kids and for those of us who listened.
Great job Heidi!!!
Heidi's new friend.
"The Book Thief"
I just finished reading "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.
Would I recommend this book? ABSOLUTELY. Thank you Jen for recommending it to me.
What I loved about it.
I loved every character! The author has a gift for developing characters.
I love the creative way the author wrote this book. Very unique.
I love books about world war 2 in Germany.
I love so many scenes in this book....
when papa gives the bread to the jew
when Liesel finds Max in the Jewish walk
THE END!
And so many more.
"Undaunted"
What I loved about the book.
I loved learning about the great journey by these faithful pioneers.
I loved to learn from their faith.
I loved how the Lord guided them and sustained them.
I loved their faithful ENDURANCE.
I loved the vivid picture the author painted of this story.
What I didn't like to much.
I wanted to hear more about the real story and less about the fictional story.

Crepes- Conference Morning Breakfast
Crepes are so divine and I have always been afraid to make them but having made them one time with my friend, Barbara, and last week in Young Women's, I thought I would attempt them again.
4 eggs, beaten
1 cup flour
1 1/3 cup milk
2 TB sugar
2 TB butter, melted
1/2 tsp salt
In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, flour, sugar and salt until smooth.Heat a medium-sized non stick skillet over medium heat. Grease pan with a small amount of oil applied with a brush or paper towel. Using a 1/4 c measuring cup, fill it scantly and spoon into hot pan, tilting the pan so that bottom surface is evenly coated. Cook over medium heat, 30 seconds or until golden brown, flip over and cook for another 15 seconds. Serve immediately.
Suggested fillings:
Sliced strawberries, whipped cream
Butter and powdered sugar
Nutella, bananas and whipped cream
chocolate chips and whipped cream
Lemon filling and cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar
